Trump Voices Sympathy for Prince Andrew Amid Ongoing Controversy

Washington, D.C. — President Donald Trump expressed sympathy for Prince Andrew during a press briefing on Monday, commenting on the British royal’s continued fallout from his association with Jeffrey Epstein. The remarks drew renewed attention to both the late financier’s circle of acquaintances and the former duke’s diminished status within the Royal Family.

President Trump said he had known Prince Andrew for many years and regarded him as “a nice person who got caught up in a bad situation.” He added that the two had occasionally crossed paths at social events organized by Epstein, including visits to the financier’s private island.

Trump declined to elaborate on the nature or timeline of those visits but emphasized that his impression of the prince had always been positive. “He was polite, respectful, and seemed genuinely interested in people,” the President said. “I think he’s been treated very harshly, and it’s sad to see what’s happened.”

Buckingham Palace has not responded to Trump’s remarks. Prince Andrew has largely withdrawn from public life since 2020, when Queen Elizabeth II stripped him of his military titles and royal patronages following public scrutiny over his relationship with Epstein. Although Andrew has consistently denied any wrongdoing, his associations have remained a source of controversy in the United Kingdom.
