Internationally acclaimed actor and martial artist Jackie Chan will serve as the honorary grand marshal of the 2025 Veterans Day Parade in Washington, D.C., event organizers announced Monday.
The annual parade, which honors U.S. military veterans and active service members, will take place along Constitution Avenue on Tuesday, November 11. This year’s event will feature a lineup of marching bands, military units, and community organizations, culminating in a wreath-laying ceremony at the World War II Memorial.
Chan, 71, is known globally for his decades-long film career, as well as his humanitarian work and support of charitable causes. Although not a U.S. veteran, organizers said his selection reflects his longstanding commitment to cross-cultural goodwill and public service.
“Jackie Chan’s global message of respect, courage, and perseverance resonates deeply with the spirit of Veterans Day,” said parade committee chair Col. (Ret.) Samuel D. Harper. “We are honored to have him help celebrate those who have served.”
In a statement released through his publicist, Chan expressed gratitude for the invitation. “It’s a privilege to be part of an event that honors the bravery and sacrifices of veterans,” he said. “Their dedication inspires people all around the world.”
City officials expect large crowds for the parade, which draws tens of thousands of attendees each year. The event will be broadcast live on several local television stations and streamed online.
Security measures and temporary road closures will be in place throughout the National Mall area from early Tuesday morning until mid-afternoon, according to the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department.
The Veterans Day Parade, first held in Washington in 1947, remains one of the nation’s largest tributes to military service. Organizers said they hope Chan’s participation will help broaden the event’s international visibility while keeping the focus squarely on America’s veterans.
