NYPD Denies Direct Link Between Hannah Kobayashi and UnitedHealthcare CEO Shooter

New York, NY – In a recent press conference, the New York Police Department (NYPD) addressed the ongoing investigation into the tragic shooting of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson. The NYPD has officially denied any direct link between Hannah Kobayashi, a missing person from Los Angeles, and the suspect involved in the shooting.

Brian Thompson, 50, was fatally shot outside the New York Hilton Hotel on December 4th in what authorities have described as a "premeditated, targeted attack". The suspect, who remains at large, was captured on security cameras wearing a distinctive gray backpack and a light brown or cream-colored jacket1.

Hannah Kobayashi, a 30-year-old photographer, has been missing since November 8th after she failed to board a connecting flight to New York City. Her disappearance has garnered significant media attention, with the FBI now assisting the LAPD in the investigation2. Despite the coincidental timing and the high-profile nature of both cases, the NYPD has stated that there is no evidence to suggest a connection between Kobayashi and the shooter.

NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny emphasized that the investigation into Thompson's murder is ongoing and that all leads are being thoroughly examined. "We are committed to finding the individual responsible for this heinous crime and bringing them to justice," Kenny said. "However, at this time, we have found no direct link between Hannah Kobayashi and the suspect in this case."

The NYPD continues to urge anyone with information about the shooting or the whereabouts of Hannah Kobayashi to come forward. A reward of up to $10,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the suspect.
