Florida Governor DeSantis Bans Rainbows

TALLAHASSEE, FL - In a controversial move that has sparked outrage, Governor Ron DeSantis signed an executive order Friday prohibiting the appearance of rainbows across the state for the entire summer season.

The order, which takes effect June 1st and lasts through August 31st, makes it illegal for any rainbow to "manifest, appear, or otherwise present itself" in Florida's skies during the prime summer months. Violators could face fines of up to $10,000 per observed rainbow.

DeSantis defended the order as a necessary step to push back against what he termed "the insidious agenda of the Leprechaun Lobby and their rainbow indoctrination of our children." He accused leprechauns of using rainbows to promote their "mythical lifestyle" and warp young minds.

"From Disney pushing their rainbow agenda to leprechauns luring our kids toward pots of gold, it's all part of the same Marxist-Leprechaun plot to undermine our American family values," DeSantis said at a press conference. "As governor, I have a responsibility to protect our youth from this deviant ideology."

The Florida Leprechaun Alliance immediately condemned the order, calling it "discriminatory, unscientific, and a clear violation of our community's civil rights." They vowed to challenge the ban through legal channels.

"Rainbows are a natural meteorological phenomenon, not some sinister political symbol," said Seamus O'Shaughnessy, the group's president. "This ban is Governor DeSantis blatantly pandering to his base's anti-leprechaun prejudices."

Meteorologists have also raised concerns about unintended consequences, warning that prohibiting rainbows could potentially disrupt Florida's climate patterns and increase the risk of droughts or floods.

As the summer season approaches, the rainbow ban seems poised to become the latest cultural flashpoint in Florida's ongoing ideological battles over education, LGBTQ rights, and other hot-button social issues. Legal challenges are expected in the coming weeks.
